A New Year's Journaling Project
30 days of journaling, chance, and living the questions
January arrives with its familiar inventory—resolutions, anxieties, the mild panic of self-improvement. And with it, a flood of questions.
Not the tidy, answerable kind—but the deeper ones. The ones that circle quietly beneath the noise of daily life. The ones that resist quick fixes.
As we enter the new year, I want to meet those questions together—on the page.
I’m inviting you to join me for a 30-day journaling project throughout the month of January. Anyone can participate, wherever you are, however you write. All that’s required is a willingness to show up—briefly, imperfectly, honestly—once a day. Even if it’s just for a few minutes.
Our guiding theme comes from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, who urged us to “live the questions”—to stay with uncertainty long enough that, one day, almost without noticing, we begin living our way into the answers.
For this year’s New Year’s Journaling Project, we’ll practice that kind of trust. I’ve chosen 30 prompts, placed them in a jar, and each day in January I’ll draw one for us to journal to—enough structure to keep us grounded, enough chance to keep things alive.
The invitation is simple: respond to whatever appears. Stay curious. Let the unfolding lead.
How it works—
Everyone is welcome to join.
You can journal privately, in your own notebook, at your own pace. No sharing required. No pressure to “do it right.”
Paid subscribers will receive:
A daily journaling prompt, delivered straight to your inbox from January 1–31
Gentle accountability—a steady rhythm of encouragement
Private chat threads for those who want to connect, reflect, or simply say: I’m here too
Special events throughout the month, including:
A five-part conversation series with inspiring creative thinkers, including Jennifer Garner, Michelle Obama, Kate Bowler, and Matthew McConaughey—exploring creativity, meaning, resilience, and how they live their own questions. One recorded conversation will be delivered to your inbox each week, so you can watch on your own time.
A live virtual Journaling Club (details coming soon)
There’s no special registration—just make sure you’re a paid subscriber to join me.
You don’t need any prior experience.
You don’t need a picture-perfect setup or a well-rehearsed routine.
You don’t need clarity before you begin.
You just need a few minutes a day, a pen, and a willingness to listen—to yourself, and to what’s asking for your attention.
January can be loud with expectations. This is an invitation to do something quieter. Something steadier. Something that accumulates.
I’ll be right there with you—writing, wondering, and living the questions, one day at a time.
With you on the page,
Suleika

I am so excited...I am a paid subscriber which is a gift to myself. I look forward to a 30 day experience...I am testing my own resilience to follow through. God bless you and Jon on your journey 🙏 into 2026. Imagine and live in peace.
At first I bristled, thinking of another earnest invitation to be brighter and better in the new year. Instead, of course, it's almost the opposite, just connecting with and expressing what IS.
Hallelujah!
