Hi friend!
I’m here with exciting news! This Sunday, February 25 from 1-2pm ET, I’m hosting a not-to-be-missed workshop for paid subscribers with one of the great thought leaders of our time—the bestselling author Susan Cain.
I first encountered Susan’s paradigm-shifting work over a decade ago, when I read her book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking (which she distilled in her wildly popular TED Talk). Like so many others, her work changed things for me—it gave me permission to indulge my introvertedness and cultivate solitude.
Susan followed up Quiet with another resonant book, Bittersweet: How Sorrow and Longing Make Us Whole. In reading it, I was amazed at how much overlap there is with what we do here at the Isolation Journals—how we’re both trying to learn to hold the beautiful and the brutal in the same palm (see photo above!), how we both see creativity as a means of marrying the two.
So I’ve been dreaming of a collaboration for a while now, and I’m so excited that we’re finally joining forces with this special workshop. Here’s a little rundown:Â
The event will take place on Zoom. You don’t need to register—we’ll email you the link the day before! (You can save the date to your google calendar by clicking here.)
The first half of the hour will be a discussion between Susan and me on joy, sorrow, and creative alchemy, including a Q&A inspired by your queries. If you have one, please email it to me!
We’ll also give you some journaling prompts and open the floor for a few attendees to share their words with everyone.Â
Don’t worry if you can’t make it live. We’ll send out a video recording to paid subscribers next week!
If you’re not yet a paid subscriber (only $6/month), you can upgrade here:
I couldn’t be more excited about this—I really hope you’ll join us!
Until soon,
Suleika
