P.S. As a paid subscriber, you also receive other valuable benefits, like access to additional essays from me and also Dear Susu, my advice column; the Hatch, our virtual creative hour where we gather for inspiration, connection, and accountability; our archive of Studio Visits (including a very special one with Liz); and early access to special Isolation Journals merchandise, like our custom journal! Paid subscriptions are also the best way to support and sustain the Isolation Journals.
Oh my stars!!! My heart needs this so, so badly. My mother is dying...my heart is breaking like never before, and I need some light. Thank you, Suleika, for this wonderful event.
I’m so excited for you! Even though I cannot be there, reading this reminded me of the power of connection. In the summer of 2020 I was living in my car, completely alone and about ready to give up. For some reason I opened Instagram (which I rarely did...it was probably the first time in at least 6 months) and the first post to come up was one of Elizabeth Gilbert’s. I ended up on her page and reaching out to someone tagged in another post, which helped me gain a new perspective and, most of all, hope. It was that post which also led to finding others who’s stories inspired me (one of those being Suleika, and here)...so as I read this, it felt as if things were coming full-circle. I will always remember that post and be forever grateful to her.
